Dan McMahon and Charlie Campbell (district managers for Sheetz at the time) began Sheetz Family Christmas in 1992 as a way to give needy children the opportunity to celebrate Christmas with new toys, clothes and other basic needs such as furniture and bedding. Leading a group of store employees from Blair County, Pennsylvania, Dan and Charlie raised $12,000 that first year, which was enough money to take 126 kids on a Christmas shopping spree. The tradition of the Sheetz For the Kidz Holiday Event was born!

Since then, the holiday event has grown. Thanks to various fundraising efforts of Sheetz employees, we are able to make the holiday season brighter for these children. Sheetz employees from every Sheetz operating volunteer to participate in the annual shopping days. Then we hold special parties in each of our districts, where Santa presents the children with gifts purchased specifically for them. Along with the presents, children enjoy food, crafts, games and pictures with Santa.  Since inception of the program over $13.5 million dollars has been raised For the Kidz!

My daughter is a junior at Slippery Rock University and my husband is employed by Sheetz. Is there a Christmas event in the western pa area that she could volunteer and work at this year? She has expressed interest in this previously, just trying to help her get connected with someone to volunteer at this important event.

    Thanks.

    • Thank you for your interest in helping with Sheetz Family Christmas. Your daughter is eligible to help because she is over the age of 18. The next step would be for your husband to contact his District Manager and they will be able to set her up to volunteer!

I would just like to say Thank-you to Pam Kuntz for all of her hard work and dedication to making sure my children would have for Christmas. She went above and beyond to find the right answer and I have to say for never meeting Pam and only exchanging phone calls, she is most definately one of the nicest and dedicated people I know. Sheetz is very lucky to have her as an employee. I would also like to Thank Sheetz Coorporate Office as they were key players in making this happen. Sheetz has been wonderful to my family and I would like to say Thank-you and Happy Holidays from our family.
